So far we've been looking at how we organize our ideas logically and some of the meta-cognitive processses that underlie beliefs. These motivate our confidence in rational thought generally and logical argument in particular:
Lets look at some issues in the Philosophy of Science to see how this plays out in that domain.
Initially our exploration of the philosophy of religion focuses on naturalism. To this end we will look at the history and philosophy of science.
Naturalism is the thesis that physical explanation alone will adequately and ultimately explain all that requires explanation. If naturalism is true, then there seems to be no rational purpose served by supernatural concepts such as "god".
